Assess the number of children you are teaching diversity and differences in others to along with each child's individual age.
Speak with the parents of the children about any diversity projects or cultural projects you plan to incorporate into your lesson plans to ensure they do not conflict with any current culture or belief system in place with any child in your care.
Talk with the group of children you are teaching diversity to and begin introducing various culture from around the world and where each culture and race is originally from.
Read various children's stories and books that involve race and diversity struggles and obstacles to the kids you are informing about different cultures and diversity.
Ask children to find out about their own nationalities and the origin of their families as part of a class project. If you are a parent, inform your children of where your own family comes from originally as well as other family members or distant relatives' nationalities as well to familiarize the children with the different possibilities of cultures and heritages in each person.
Teach the children the basics of handling emotions and being polite and courteous with other kids and their own classmates, regardless of race, gender or any other appearance factor. Having your children understand the basics of kindness will allow them to grasp negative concepts about races and cultures to steer away from them when faced with situations in their own futures.
