Draw a table chart with six rows and five columns. Along the top row (skipping the top left corner box), fill in the following titles per column: Poor, Acceptable, Good and Excellent; fill in the following titles per column (skipping the top left corner box): Use of Class Time, Mathematical Analysis, Construction of Scale Pyramid, Class Presentation and Comparison.
Assign a point value to each row, starting from the top row: 10 points, 30 points, 30 points, 20 points, 10 points. Develop a range of points to correlate with the ascending scale of quality (from poor to excellent). Each scale should reflect upon the total value of each section. A ten-point row's Poor section equals 0-3 points, the Acceptable column equals 4-7 points, the Good column equals 8-9 points and the Excellent column equals the full value of the row, 10 points.
Assign a point scale for the other rows. For a 30-point row: Poor equals 0-9 points, Acceptable equals 10-21 points, Good equals 22-27 points and Excellent equals 28-30 points. For a 20-point row: Poor equals 0-6 points, Acceptable equals 7-14 points, Good equals 15-18 points and Excellent equals 19-20 points.
Write descriptions to elaborate on the meaning of each box. Starting from the top of the Poor column, write what it means to use class time (title of first row) in a poor (title of first column) manner. Write that the student doesn't utilize their time wisely, and that they are unprepared.
Fill in each consecutive row for the Poor column: Insufficient analysis, or failure to present their analysis; Very little effort put forth, or failure to define a scale for the model; Lackluster presentation; Failure to compare.
Fill in the entire Acceptable column to describe each of the row titles starting with "Use of Class Time" down to "Comparison: Works during class time, but is not prepared; analysis completed, but not correct; model is similar to pyramid, but scales not defined; entertaining presentation, but no supporting evidence; decent level of comparison conducted.
Fill in the entire Good column to reflect each row, starting from Use of Class Time down to Comparison: Works during class hours, partially prepared; analysis completed using valid formulas; model matches scale specifications; valuable presentation offers supporting evidence; comparison is conducted with substantial facts in a well-organized report.
Fill in the entire Excellent column to reflect each row, starting from Use of Class Time down to Comparison: Used class time efficiently; analysis completed to best of ability; model is neat and utilizes scale measurements; presentation is fascinating and full of information; exceptional comparison composed in a well-written report.
