Scatter different-colored hoops on the ground and split the students into two teams, the "good guys" and the "thieves." Give the good guys beanbags that are the same colors as the hoops. When you blow a whistle, the good guys must place the beanbags in the corresponding hoops. After 30 seconds, the thieves will come in and start removing the beanbags and place them in the incorrect colored hoops. Players cannot take beanbags out of one another's hands. After two minutes, count the beanbags. More correct colored bags in the hoops means the good guys win. More incorrect bags in the hoops means the thieves win. Make the game more physical by using colored balls and allowing the students to take the balls from one another.
Ask the students to select a partner and give each team a ball, such as a soccer ball or volleyball. Have the children stand 5 feet apart and toss the ball to one another. Each time a partner catches the ball, have both partners take one step back. The team who can toss and catch the ball from the farthest distance wins the game. Play simple games with balls by seeing who can roll a ball or toss a ball the farthest.
Make a game of beanbag bowling for your students by placing empty plastic soda bottles on the ground in a pyramid shape, like bowling pins. Students must slide the beanbags at the bottles to try to knock them down. Reset the pins after each throw and the player who knocks down the most pins in five throws wins the game. Alternatively, set up a tall stack of empty cans in a pyramid shape and have the players toss the beanbags at the cans to try to knock them down.
Create a simple relay race by dividing the students into two teams. Have both teams line up at a starting line and hand the first player in each team line a ball or baton. Mark a finish line 25 feet away from the starting line. When you say "Race," the first player in each team must race to the finish line and back to the starting line to hand off the ball or baton to the next player in line. Each player must do the same and the first team to finish wins the relay. Instead of running, have the students' hop, skip or run backwards for a variation.
