Ways to Use Thinklink Progress Zone

The Thinklink Progress Zone is an interactive Web-based teaching tool that can be used to assist in the teaching and monitor the progress of a student throughout his education, including high school. The Progress Zone system allows teachers, school and district administrators access to the results of learning activities that provide a detailed breakdown of a student's academic progress.
  1. Lessons

    • The tools within the Progress Zone software can be used to assist teachers in designing and delivering lesson plans. Progress Zone can also be used to ensure a teacher is delivering information needed within state and core curriculum requirements. To assist with the delivery of lessons, teachers have access to over 60,000 video clips, Discovery Education reports. These video clips and the Web links that are available for the delivery of information are sorted into grade and skill levels, making it easy for teachers to find relevant information for their class.

    Monitoring

    • The Progress Zone software has features that allow a teacher to create assessments that can be used to monitor the progress of a student throughout the academic year. These assessments can be created within the requirements of a state curriculum, allowing a student's individual attainment level to be monitored by staff with access to Progress Zone; both teachers and administration staff can be allowed access to assessment reports. When individual students require extra assistance with certain academic subjects, teachers can search for information needed by the individual student to increase their skills.

    Probe

    • The creation of assessments, called a probe on the Thinklink Progress Zone system, can be completed using the software. An assessment can be created for an entire class of students, or focused on the needs of a specific group or individual student. These probes can be saved to the Progress Zone and accessed for learning and monitoring purposes. A probe can be shared by a teacher with members of their school or school district to allow other teachers or administrators to use the probe for their own needs.

    Uses

    • The uses of the Progress Zone software include the development of motivational games that can be used by teachers to increase the knowledge of their students. The resources that are available to teachers include descriptions of standards required by a specific state education department, and the ability to break down a student's assessment scores. Assessment reports break down a student's test into the questions answered correctly and the difficulty level of the correctly answered questions.
