Activities With Macaroni

Inexpensive and easy to procure macaroni provides a tactile treat to youngsters. Instead of investing a large amount of money in more pricey craft supplies, engage your young crafters in macaroni-based activities, allowing them to exercise their creativity and develop their fine motor skills. These hands-on activities will provide youngsters a means by which to burn off some energy while being productive.
  1. Macaroni Skeleton

    • If Halloween is neigh, have your crafter make a macaroni skeleton. To prepare for this craft, locate a picture of a skeleton and print it onto a sheet of cardstock. Give your crafter some white school glue, macaroni noodles and this picture. Ask her to glue the noodles down over the bones in the picture, creating macaroni ribs, arms and legs for her skeleton. To allow for even more creativity, let her paint the macaroni pieces before she glues them down. Display the finished piece on your classroom wall or family refrigerator.

    Macaroni Necklace

    • Produce some wearable art with your youngster by having him create a macaroni necklace. Purchase a box of macaroni and procure some yarn in your tot’s favorite hue. Tightly wrap one end of the yarn with tape to create a rigid piece so your child can easily slide the noodles onto the yarn. Allow your youngster to string the noodles, adding as few or as many as he wants to create his necklace.

    Pasta Picture Frame

    • Transform a piece of cardboard into a decorative picture frame with the help of your young crafter. Cut your cardboard piece with a razor knife, creating a rectangular, square or round frame. Help your child paint macaroni noodles with craft paint, then allow them to dry. Assist your tot in gluing these painted noodles onto the frame, giving it depth and making it a more attractive receptacle for a picture. Once the glue on the frame dries, position a properly-proportioned picture in the frame, using tape to attach it. Hang the finished piece in your child’s bedroom or in a family area.

    Macaroni Music Maker

    • Give your child a tool with which to make some joyful noise by helping her craft a macaroni music maker. To prepare for this craft, save an oblong food container, such as a creamer bottle, jar that once held nuts or potato chip can. Help your child decorate this object, painting on designs or cutting and gluing down construction paper. Once your child is finished, add several handfuls of macaroni to the decorated container and tape the lid shut. Allow your child to use her creation as a musical instrument, shaking out some beats to which she and her friends can dance.
