Were there black teachers in 1950?

Yes, there were black teachers in 1950. Although segregation was still widely practiced in the United States at that time, there were a number of historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) that provided education for African Americans. These institutions produced a significant number of black teachers who went on to teach in public schools, private schools, and colleges. In addition, some black teachers were able to find work in integrated schools.
