God's Eye, or Ojo de Dios, is a popular Christian craft that is simple enough for children of many different ages to complete. To make this craft, you need yarn, wooden craft sticks and glue. First glue two wooden sticks together forming an "X." Let them dry and give one "X" to each child. Give each child yarn and glue the end of the yarn on the back of the "X." The children then begin wrapping the yarn diagonally over the center point of the "X" going over the sticks and then behind it. Turn the "X" and continue working all the way around it. After an "eye" is formed in the center of the "X," attach a different colored yarn to the yarn piece and continue wrapping it around. Attach a small piece of yarn, in the shape of a loop, to allow the craft to be hung from something.
Children can easily make a stained glass cross for many occasions including Easter. To make this craft, you need brown construction paper, contact paper, colorful tissue paper and scissors. Using two pieces of construction paper, fold them in half and cut out a cross from them. Cut out the center of the crosses, leaving an empty hole in the middle. Open up one of the crosses and attach contact paper to it. Place small pieces of colored tissue paper over the sticky contact paper using a variety of colors. Attach the other cross to it and it will shine when hung in the window.
Take children on a nature walk and ask them to collect items such as pine cones, flowers and leaves. Place them in the bag. Have the children decorate the bags with ribbons or yarn. This craft teaches children about the things God made and blessed us with from nature.
Door hangers are crafts ideal for Sunday school classes or Bible schools. Purchase blank craft foam door hangers. Using whatever theme the lesson is about, have the children decorate the door hangers. Use a variety of craft supplies, such as cotton balls, ribbons, markers and stickers. Children can write a Bible verse on the hanger, their name and whatever details you choose.
