Move through the most current edition of the Girl Scout handbook and choose the badge that you feel your scouts are ready to work for. Allow the focus of this badge to determine the activity you select.
Designate an activity, something that will help participants attain the badge you have selected. For example, if the badge you picked is an animal care badge, you may want to take scouts to an animal shelter.
Search for a site in your local area to make the trip easier, or make it a longer distance journey. If you want to take your participants to a working farm, for example, visit a travel agency or conduct an Internet search to find one near you.
Invite Girl Scout participants. Create an invitation with all of the information necessary for scouts and their parents, including the address of the site, the name of the location, the date and the time as well as any costs associated with the trip.
Acquire necessary permissions. Speak with parents individually or, if your troop is related to a school, get signed permission slips.
Create an agenda. To ensure that your event time is well-spent, create an agenda that you plan to follow, allowing participants and helping adults see what they will be doing every step of the way.
