Scholastic's second grade reading games in Spanish include a "Puzzle de Contrasena," which prompts students to guess missing letters in Spanish words to assist a cartoon character named Maggie. Maggie has forgotten her password and needs assistance solving the puzzle to unlock the code. Scholastic's "Diagramando a la Ciencia" game offers diagrams of the Earth's layers, plants, fish, anatomy and atmosphere layers with corresponding Spanish words for a short period. Then, the words are scrambled and players must match the words to the proper diagram parts.
"Limpia Tu Gramatica" is a reading game in Spanish on the Scholastic website which can be played at two skill levels. The game simulates a beach scene which is littered with words and students help clean up the beach. Spanish nouns and verbs are displayed and students sort them into appropriate noun and verb recycling containers by dragging and dropping. To win, 10 words must be put in the correct containers.
The Spanish-English Cycle Race game on the Scholastic website simulates a bicycle race where players get closer to the finish line with each question answered correctly. Two Spanish or two English words are displayed and a question is asked, such as "What is the Spanish word for green?" or "What is the English word for noche?" and players must choose the correct answer to advance in the game. Players can select two skill levels for play and if answers are not chosen within an allotted time, the game ends.
Scholastic has a "Pinata Concentration Game" which displays coins which are flipped virtually in pairs to play a memory and matching game of Concentration with Spanish words. As word pairs are matched, they fall off the screen and when a game is won, virtual candy pieces are rewarded and a new puzzle appears on screen.
