Create a matching game for students to review Spanish words. Write Spanish words on index cards. For each word, draw a picture or symbol to represent that word on another index card. Place the index cards face down and allow students to draw two cards at a time, trying to match the word with the correct picture. After all cards have been drawn, the student with the most matches wins the game.
Students can review common Spanish vocabulary words for food, clothing and other basic items by playing the "I am going on a trip" game. Begin the game by having students say "I am going on a trip and I am going to take...." Insert a Spanish word such as "una camisa" for shirt or "un platano" for a banana. Students take turns adding words to the list, with the next student repeating all of the words said before him.
Find a premade connect-the-dots puzzle, and mark out all of the numbers. Replace the numbers with the Spanish word for each number. Students can begin to recognize how numbers are written in Spanish while solving the connect-the-dots puzzle. Instead of using a premade puzzle, consider making your own, having students connect the dots to make a Spanish shape such as a sombrero or jalapeno.
Provide students with pictures of the parts of the body (head, arms, legs, ears, eyes, mouth). Place students into teams and provide each team with a large sheet of paper. Call out a body part by its Spanish name and have teams race to see who can correctly locate and glue the appropriate body part to the sheet of paper. Continue the game until students have glued the pieces onto the paper to create a full body.
