An erupting volcano is a safe and easy science project. It uses only baking soda and vinegar to simulate the flow of lava. You can create a volcanic mountain with a rugged appearance by piling up small rocks A volcano created from rocks will provide a different effect than a volcano made from sand or clay. The erupting lava will quickly flow down into the cracks and crevices between the rocks.
