How to Take a Test & Pass

Depending on how well you have prepared, tests can be a rather unfortunate and unavoidable part of schooling. Frustration, anxiety and sometimes even disappointment can ensue if you have not properly studied for a test. But it does not have to be that way. Tests can also be an opportunity to flaunt the knowledge that you have gained, while discovering how far you have come in your educational career. Success in the classroom rarely comes easy--it takes discipline and hard work.

Instructions

    • 1

Take the adequate steps to prepare for the test from day one. Take good notes, do all homework assignments and study each night. Reviewing class materials will help prevent any surprises on the day of an exam.

    • 2

Ask your teacher what areas will be emphasized on the test. Instructors will provide practice exams in some cases that you may review in order to know what to expect. Go to any tutoring sessions provided.

    • 3

Get a good night's rest the night before the test help your brain perform at its peak level. A minimum of eight hours is ideal. Sleep deprivation will make focusing on exam day difficult.

    • 4

Eat a light breakfast the morning of the test. Try to arrive at least five minutes early and use the restroom beforehand to prevent any distractions. Sharpen your pencil and clear your mind of anything unrelated.

    • 5

Follow any instructions your teacher gives regarding the test. Take a deep breath and begin. Review your answers after you finish and check for mistakes.
