Draw a picture of a Christmas tree on paper and laminate it. Alternatively, you could print out a picture of a Christmas tree and laminate it. Place hook-and-loop fasteners on the Christmas tree, which will be used to hang ornaments on the tree.
Draw pictures of ornaments. Draw circular-shaped ornaments, or, if you intend to use the game to teach the names of shapes, create ornaments that resemble the shapes. On circular-shaped ornaments, draw pictures that represent words you wish to teach in the English language: letters, numbers or sight words, for example.
Cut out the ornaments and laminate them. Place hook-and-loop fasteners on the back of the ornaments. The fasteners will be used to hang the ornaments on the tree.
Place the ornaments in a bag. Invite one player at a time to remove an ornament from the bag. Players must provide the English name of the item named on the ornament, or the shape of the ornament. If the player provides the correct English name, she may hang it on the tree; if she is incorrect, the ornament is passed to the next player, who must provide the English name.
Place a small, inexpensive item inside a gift box, such as stickers, pencils or crayons. Wrap the box with decorative Christmas paper, ribbons and bows.
Set the gift wrapped box out. Explain to the player that he is going to unwrap the present, but in order to do so, he must provide the proper English words for the items.
Point to the bow and ask the player to provide the English name. Upon stating the name, he may remove the bow. If he provides the incorrect name, tell him the name and have him remove the bow.
Continue the same process for unwrapping the box, having the player name the ribbon, paper and the box itself until the gift is completely unwrapped.
Award the player the small gift inside the box if he provides the correct English names for all of the items.
