Place the base of a ruler or tape measure at the base of your finger or at the area where your wrist meets your hand. Position the ruler or tape measure on the palm side of your hand.

Extend the measuring device upward to your finger tip. If you are using a tape measure, pull the tape taut and make sure that it isn't twisted.

Read the measurement that is level with the top of your finger tip.
