How to Make a Tri-Fold Poster From a Regular Poster

Poster-based visual presentations are a common assignment for students of all ages, from elementary school students assembling their first poster project to high school students presenting a more serious academic assignment. A step up from the standard, flat four-sided poster is the three-sided display board.

Instructions

    • 1

Use a ruler to measure off where the poster should be folded. You can use whichever dimensions you prefer, though the standard is that the central panel is twice the width of each of the adjacent panels.

    • 2

Mark off the measurements with a pencil on the back of the poster board, so it doesn't show on your display.

    • 3

Fold each flank of the poster board carefully and evenly so you have a tri-fold poster.
