What is in school suspension?

In-school suspension (ISS) is a disciplinary action where a student is removed from their regular classes but remains on school grounds. They typically spend the day in a designated area, often a separate classroom or room, and are supervised by a staff member. While in ISS, students are usually expected to complete assigned schoolwork, but they are separated from their peers and regular classroom activities as a form of punishment for violating school rules. The length of ISS varies depending on the infraction and school policy.
