History is a very versatile subject, since several questions can root just from one history lesson. For example, if you are studying the American Revolution with your child or classroom, you can quiz students on certain subjects such as the first president of the United States, the date the Declaration of Independence was signed or the year the war commenced. World history could include questions about who built famous landmarks such as the pyramids or about the different gods in Greek mythology.
Science is also a versatile subject. If you are currently studying earth science, ask questions about the earth's composition or what animals inhabit different continents. If you are focusing on biological sciences, ask trivia questions about different bodily functions. Ask what we use our lungs, ears, eyes, mouth and heart for. For an astronomy unit, you can ask the different names of the planets and ask students to show you where the planet is located in the solar system.
It may seem odd to do a trivia quiz about math, but students need to memorize certain concepts in math just like any other subject. Quiz students on the definition of multiplication, division, addition, subtraction and other basic math functions. For older students, quiz about certain formulas such as the quadratic formula or the slope formula. Ask students to write out the equation as their answer and describe some of its functions. You can even make trivia as simple as thinking of a certain number and giving students clues to guess it.
Geography trivia questions can vary from simple questions like asking where a continent is located to complex questions that involve the location of famous cities or landmarks. If you are studying a particular country in geography or another subject, focus your questions on that country. If your class is studying ancient Egypt in history, ask questions about locations of cities in Egypt, famous rivers, crop production and famous landmarks. If your students are memorizing state capitals, design a trivia game in which you give the capital or state and the student has to guess the corresponding answer.
