Student Work Bulletin Board Ideas

Reward your students for jobs well done by designating a bulletin board in your classroom to showcase their work. Create a space for each student, and change their work regularly for classmates and visitors to admire. A little preparation at the beginning of the year provides you with a bulletin board that can be used until the last day of school.
  1. Pictures

    • Create personalized areas to showcase your students' work. Take a picture of each student. Attach the photos to a bulletin board, leaving space to display students' work above their pictures. Another option is to create silhouettes of your students. Have them stand in front of white paper, and shine light on them using an overhead projector. Trace the shadows of the students' heads and shoulders. Cut out the outlines, and trace them onto black construction paper. Cut out the silhouettes, and post them on your bulletin board. Hang the students' work on their silhouettes.

    Grid

    • Divide your bulletin board into squares or rectangles, creating spaces to showcase each student's work. To make the grid, use brightly colored yarn, strips of construction paper or borders you have purchased. Make nameplates using construction paper to post in each space. Create a low-maintenance bulletin board by choosing a border that is appropriate year-round.

    Clips

    • Create a permanent bulletin board that you can use every year. Use a glue gun to attach plastic clips or clothespins to the bulletin board, leaving enough space between them so you can hang student work from each clip. Using clips allows you to quickly and easily change the work on display. It also prevents pages from getting holes in them caused by staplers or tacks.

    Frames

    • Provide students with brightly colored construction paper. Have them draw 2-inch borders around their pages to create frames. Ask them to decorate their frames using markers, stickers or stamps. Have them print their names on their frames. Laminate the frames to make them durable. Cut two half-inch slits in the top of each frame, and insert a paper clip in each space. Hang the frames on your bulletin board. Post your students' work by attaching it to the paper clips.
