Access the EQAO website. Look at the Parent Resources page pertaining to grade three. Familiarize yourself with the test by reading the document "What Parents Need to Know About Province-Wide Testing."
Print grade three mathematics student assessment booklets from previous years. Choose the appropriate booklets based on whether your child is in an English or French Immersion program. Print the corresponding scoring guides.
Read through a booklet with your child. Discuss how to fill in the multiple choice bubbles and where to write long answer responses. Point out instructions such as when calculators and manipulatives are permitted and when to stop writing.
Ask your child to complete the first section of the test. Go over their responses using the scoring guide. Discuss questions your child answered incorrectly and help them understand the correct answer.
Provide your child with an appropriate break before completing the second section. Use the scoring guide to check their answers. Discuss incorrect responses and review challenging concepts.
Have your child complete more assessment booklets leading up to the test dates. Ask your child's teacher for assistance if your child experiences difficulty with specific math concepts.
