Students take turns being "It" and must tag other students by tapping them with their hand to freeze them in place. Once a student has been tagged, she can't move until another friend tags her free. The game is played in a gym or outside, but you should set boundaries.
Students pair up, stand side by side and tie their middle two legs together. All of the students then race each other from one side of a designated distance to the other, and the first team to reach the other side wins. The game can be challenging for students and will teach them teamwork. Ideally, this game is played outside on soft grass because falling is a likely, and usually hilarious, part of the race.
One student (the stoplight) stands in front of the class, facing the rest of the students who stand about 50 meters away in a horizontal line. When the stoplight yells, "Green light," the students run toward the stoplight as quickly as possible. When the stoplight yells, "Red light," the students stop. If the stoplight catches one of the "frozen" children still moving or falling out his frozen pose, the stoplight sends the child back to the start line. The first student to make it to the stoplight wins the game and becomes the stoplight for the next game.
A gym class is split into two even groups, which stand on opposite ends of a field or gym. Line up three sponge balls on the middle line, and blow a whistle to start. The students then run to the centerline and pick up the three balls without crossing the middle line. Each team throws the balls at each other, and every student who is hit with a ball is out and has to go stand on the sidelines. If a student catches a ball, the student who threw the ball is out and must stand on their sideline. The game continues until there is only one person left, and that person's team wins the game.
