Give each child an inflated balloon and a black marker. Using a diagram for reference, have each child draw a brain onto his balloon. Tie each balloon with a piece of red ribbon for the spinal cord. Now each child has his own model of the brain and spinal cord.
Start with a beanie. Draw different parts of the brain onto colored foam sheets, then cut out the brain parts. Have the children glue the brain parts onto their beanies according to a picture of the brain. Allow the glue to dry before the children wear the hats.
Draw comic book squares on a piece of paper and photocopy a sheet for each child. Have children write out a dream they remember. Give each child a photocopy of the comic paper. With pencils, pens, markers, crayons and coloring pencils, have each child create a comic of her dream.
Give each child a portion of clay. Start with a general brain shape. Using a plastic butter knife and spoon, have children start modeling the brain characteristics into the clay. This gives a very tactile experience to learning about the brain. When the children are finished, allow the clay brains to dry then let the kids paint the brains any color they like.
