Typing Games for 10-year-old Kids

Computer labs at school teach children to sit properly and type, but some students may fall behind the rest of the class in becoming proficient at the keyboard. Parents can take the lead in getting their 10-year-olds up to speed by having them practice at home using fun, interactive games. There are a variety of levels and interactive options available.
  1. Dance Mat Typing

    • Visit the website "Dance Mat Typing" on the BBC's School Web page. Children can work their way through four levels of practice. Start off typing with a goat that coaches them on how to place their fingers on the keyboard and which letters to type. Children can choose to type with any of the animals and sea creatures for each level. The animals may sing and dance when children type correctly.

    Learning Games for Kids

    • Go to "Learning Games for Kids" and scroll down and click on "Keyboarding Games" for a page of humorous typing games. Click "Typing Challenge" keyboarding games that allow children to type paragraphs. In "Homekey Kennys," the keyboard buzzes when a child makes a mistake or whacks Kenny's head when the correct keys are pressed.

    Type Me

    • Visit the "Kaboose: Funschool" Web page to test the typing game "Fun Blaster Arcade." Click the button "All Fun Blaster Arcade." A list of games appears. Scroll to the bottom of the game and click the No. "8" page to select the "Type Me" keyboarding game. Children can choose their level and type as fast as they can before the letter falls completely. If they type the right letter, they create a perfect landing for the letter with a parachute.

    Robo Raid

    • Dexter's Laboratory "Robo Raid" game on the "Cartoon Network" website encourages children to type, as their keyboarding skills help Dexter save his laboratory from his brainy rival, Mandark, Click the keys to remove the robots with Dexter's magnet device.
