Tag is a free game children in the first grade can play while in the park, in a yard or in any location with minimal risks of skinned knees or injuries. One person is designated as "It" and must chase the other kids. Upon touching a new child, the first child runs away and the new child is "It." The game is not only enjoyable to young first grade kids, but it also helps burn out excess energy.
In hide and seek, one child is designated "it," covering his eyes and counting as the other children scramble for hiding places. In first grade, counting usually stops somewhere between 15 and 20 seconds. After finishing the count, the child who is it yells out, "Ready or not, here I come!" and then goes looking for the other players. When one of the other players is found, the new player becomes it.
During Halloween or any time children want to play a spooky and fun game, they can use toilet paper to wrap each other up like mummies. Children work in pairs of two and wrap each other up. It can turn into a race to see who is wrapped up first or a competition for who does the best wrapping job. The children can then play any game their imagination puts together.
Online games often range from free to a few dollars, depending on the game. There are several free online games available which are designed for first grade level children. For example, children can play "Connect Four" online, where two children alternate and try to get four of the same color in a row. There are also classic games like "PacMan" available online for free.
