Curious George Arts & Crafts

Curious George is the little brown monkey that has found himself in mischievous situations since his first appearance in 1941. Since then the character has been featured in many different children’s books and a television series. Parents and teachers alike can use the “Curious George” characters as subject matter for arts and crafts projects. Items such as masks and collages are examples of what children can create when working with George, The Man in the Yellow Hat and other characters from the series.
  1. Halloween Mask

    • Any child can become Curious George by creating their own Halloween mask in the character’s likeness. There are many online resource centers that provide a number of games and project ideas to use with their students. The Curious George mask is a printable crafts project in which students can color George in any fashion they choose, cut the face out and then attach string behind the ears to make it a wearable mask. Students can use this mask to take part in storytelling time with their classmates or as a quick Halloween costume for a class party.

    Book Tracing Projects

    • The “Curious George” series features the little monkey being caught in many different precarious positions. With these books teachers and parents can create tracing projects for students to use for drawing assignments. Make copies of the images and place multiple variations of images on one sheet of paper. Give the students markers, crayons and colored pencils to color the images to their own liking. For additional effect, provide large sheets of construction paper that students will use to place the images upon as a background.

    Sticker Collages

    • The characters of “Curious George” are available as sticker collections that can be used to create collages. Retail stores provide sticker books that feature the characters from the series. Provide the students with sheets of the stickers and construction paper to use as the background. Another option is to allow the students to use the stickers to cover their school supplies such as binders and notebooks.

Curious George Toilet Paper Roll Craft

    • Toilet paper rolls crafts are another option that parents and teachers can use as arts and crafts projects featuring the monkey and other characters. Provide the children with empty toilet paper rolls and brown construction paper. Instruct the children to draw Curious George’s face, arms and legs. The students will cut out each part of his body from the construction paper and glue them to the toilet paper roll. Students can add additional props such as bananas and the yellow hat to their toilet paper "Curious George" characters.
