They did, however, attend a boarding school called Cowan Bridge School for a short period, from 1824 to 1825. This school was notorious for its poor conditions and lack of sanitation. The Brontë sisters, along with their older sister Maria and younger sister Elizabeth, suffered greatly during their time there.
