Physical Activities for Pre-K Homeschooling

Children have curious minds, and this curiosity allows them to observe and learn about the world that surrounds them. The responsibility of directing a child's curiosity in the right direction falls on the shoulders of parents. Homeschooling parents have an opportunity to spend more time with their child. Through these appropriate homeschooling activities, you can build up your child's aptitude to learn.
  1. Drawing

    • Drawing is an activity that children embrace whenever they have an opportunity to do so. Consequently, when children hold a marker in their hands, chances are you will find scribble marks on the floors or walls. Develop your child's drawing skills and help him focus his energy on drawing activities such as coloring pages, dot-to-dot pages, preschool crafts and letter forming. Engage your child in fun activities that allow him to enjoy drawing.

    Building Blocks

    • Children develop their creative and cognitive skills about pattern recognition through different shapes and sizes of blocks. Encourage your child to build different designs and objects, such as a house. Participate and educate your child about the shapes she is using, as it provides your child an opportunity to learn about different shape names

    Going to the Park

    • The park is a great place to go to enjoy a physical activity. Bring your child to the playground and push your child on the swings, sit on the see-saw or ride down a slide. If there is a sandbox, put her in it and let her create sand objects, such as a sand castle. It's a great environment for your child to be active and exert her energy. Encourage your child to play with other children and she will begin developing relationships and make friends with other kids.

    Animals in the Sky

    • On a sunny afternoon, end your day off with an ageless activity that even grownups enjoy. Lay down with your child under the open sky and point out shapes in the clouds that resemble animals. Motivate your child to concentrate hard at looking for animals and point out any animal-like clouds he sees. Use this activity as a relaxation technique to cool down your child after a day of running around in the park.
