Diorama School Projects

No matter what the subject, whether it be English, science or history, you can create a beautiful diorama about the current lesson you are studying. A well-presented diorama can bring your lessons to life, enabling you to see the story, biome or historical event in three dimensional form.
  1. English Diorama

    • You can create a diorama to display a story or a poem from an English lesson. Try to select a scene that epitomizes the story or poem that you are studying. Place a sheet of cardboard onto a flat surface, and cover the surface of it with craft glue. Sprinkle dirt, sand, small pebbles and grass clippings over the glue. Allow the glue to dry completely. Cut out images that will symbolize the story you are displaying, such as lamp posts, buildings, people or animals. Glue the figures and structures to the diorama. Once dry, it can be used as a visual aid during a book report, or displayed in the classroom.

    Science Diorama

    • A science diorama can be used to display different biomes on Earth, such as a tundra, desert, tropical jungle or temperate forest. Start by painting the inside of a shoebox green, tan or brown depending on the biome you are displaying. Allow the paint to dry completely. Cut out trees or mountains from construction paper, and glue them inside the box. Glue rocks, pebbles or sand in the box.

Place plastic figures of animals inside the diorama that would be seen in the biome you are displaying. For example, place a leopard in a jungle diorama, and a polar bear inside a tundra diorama. Allow the glue to dry before displaying your science diorama.

    History Diorama

    • A history diorama can be used to showcase a specific scene from history, such as the French Revolution or the Pilgrims landing on Plymouth Rock. You can use a flat piece of cardboard or a box to make the diorama. Paint and decorate the diorama as you would for the English or science dioramas, but place items in the diorama that would symbolize the scene in which you are presenting. For example, place a plastic cannon in a Civil War diorama, or a sail boat in a Pilgrim diorama.
