What Is the Strongest Dinosaur & the Weakest?

It is impossible to know the strongest or the weakest dinosaurs for sure, as dinosaurs died out 63 million years ago, long before mankind had evolved. But of the dinosaur fossils that have been discovered, we can presume that the largest was the strongest and the smallest was the weakest.
  1. Largest Dinosaurs

    • The largest and strongest of the dinosaurs were the sauropods, which roamed the world 150 million years ago. They were four-legged herbivores with long necks and long tails but small skulls and tiny brains. The largest of these dinosaurs is the supersaurus, although this may change over time given that fossils of new dinosaurs are discovered all the time. This particular dinosaur grew to be 138 feet long and 54 feet tall.

    Strongest Bite

    • Carnivorous dinosaurs had the strongest bites. Such dinosaurs as Tyrannosaurus rex and velociraptor would have been able to inflict a lot of damage on their prey. Although the T rex was not the largest of the carnivorous dinosaurs, it had one of the strongest bites. Its large head and jaw muscles were able to exert a pressure of about 4 1/2 tons per square inch, meaning it was able to crush through bone with ease.

    Smallest Dinosaur

    • The smallest dinosaur on record was roughly the same size as a pigeon. Discovered in China, Anchiornis might have weighed just under 4 ounces and measured 1.1 feet in length. It lived about 150 million years ago and is considered to be a link between birds and dinosaurs given its birdlike appearance.

    Fastest and Slowest

    • Although they were probably the strongest of the dinosaurs, the sauropods were also probably the slowest because of their huge size and small legs. They probably moved at the speed of modern humans walking.

The fastest dinosaurs were probably the birdlike carnivores known as theropods, which had light bodies complete with long, slim hind legs. It is likely that these types of dinosaurs could run as fast as such modern animals as the ostrich, averaging speeds of around 43 mph.

    Largest Carnivore

    • The largest carnivore to roam the planet was the sea-based Liopleurodon, which could be up to 25 meters long and weigh 150 tons. About 160 to 155 million years ago, these dinosaurs preyed on sharks and had the largest jaws ever recorded on an animal. Its four flippers alone measure 3 meters each in length.
