Cut a sheet of heavy corrugated cardboard to use as a base. It should be proportional to the size of the log cabin model but no bigger than your school desk.
Hot glue a small square or rectangular box or carton to the base. Cut a piece of thin cardboard 1 inch longer and wider than the box. Fold it in half lengthwise and crease well. Glue or tape this piece to the top of the box, letting the sloping roof extend beyond the edges of the house. Cut triangles from thin cardboard to the size of the opening between the top of the carton and the apex of the roof. Tape one over each opening.
Cut a door and windows in the sides of the box.
Hot glue thick, straight twigs to the outside walls and roof parallel to one another on the horizontal. Trim the twigs to the lengths needed to work around doors, windows and roof.
Mold some clay into a chimney shape and hot glue it to the side of the cabin, rising above the roof line. Press small pebbles into the clay to make it resemble a stone chimney.
