How to Create a Free Home School Transcript

Many parents opt to homeschool their children because of the freedom it allows. Parents have control over the curriculum their children use, as well as create a schedule that accommodates the family. Once children reach high school, however, it is important that parents create and maintain a transcript for their children. This transcript will be used to apply to various colleges or technical schools, should the children decide they want to go.

Instructions

    • 1

Download a transcript template, or print out one you can copy. Having a copy of a transcript gives you the format you need to follow.

    • 2

Write the name of your school, address and phone number across the top of your transcript. If you didn't create a name for your school, just write "home school" across the top. The address is your home address.

    • 3

Complete your child's information including Social Security number and birth date. Include the name of the supervising instructor by writing your name, or your spouse's name beneath the student's information, depending on which one of you was the most involved in the homeschooling process.

    • 4

Fill out the courses taken in each grade under their respected headings. Next to the course you will need to write the grade, how many credits the course was, and what the final GPA was for the course.

    • 5

Fill out the overall GPA average from 9th through 12th grade. You will also need to list the total number of credits accumulated during the four high school years. This will go beside or underneath the yearly lists.

    • 6

Complete the attendance portion of the transcript. The amount of days present, as well as the amount of days absent must be accounted for. Remember that schools are required to have a total of 180 days of instruction.

    • 7

Finish off the transcripts by adding a block of text that highlights any extra achievements made by your child. An example would be if your child earned an MVP for his basketball team, or a community award for volunteering at your local animal shelter. Sign and date the transcript, listing the official graduation date.
