Graduation Supplies for Home Schools

Just as in public school, every time home-schooled children complete a certain grade level (usually fifth, eighth and 12th), they should mark the occasion with festivities and a graduation ceremony. Home schools need some graduation supplies to do this. These supplies range from the classic graduation wear to homemade diplomas to general party supplies.
  1. Cap, Gown, Tassel

    • The cap, gown and tassel are synonymous with graduation.

The classic square academic cap, gown and tassel attached to the cap are staples of graduation ceremonies and have been so for a long time. Academic caps are available in various sizes (depending on the age of the graduate) and various colors. Gowns come in various sizes and colors as well, and are made of cotton, polyester, silk or a combination of materials. Tassels come in many colors; as with the cap and gown, choose a color based on the home school's color scheme (if it has one).

    Medallions, Pins, Cords

    • Medallions, pins and cords that symbolize a graduate's achievements can also be used for graduation ceremonies. Common honors represented by these include honor rolls, volunteer work and talents. They can also be used to show the year for a graduating class or the logo of the home school.

    Diploma With Cover

    • Diplomas can be custom-made to include borders.

Diplomas can be made and printed at printing stores using regular paper or heavy card stock paper and cursive fonts for the writing. They can also be purchased from various websites and made to order. Many places that sell custom-made diplomas perfect for home schools also sell diploma covers in numerous colors.

    Graduation Music

    • "The Graduation March" is the perfect theme for any graduation.

The most commonly played music in the United States for graduations is the section of a larger set of well-known classical marches often called "Pomp and Circumstance," or more casually, "The Graduation March." This song can be found on CD or can be purchased as an MP3. The original was conducted by Sir Edward Elgar.

    Portrait

    • Take a graduation portrait to remember the moment.

Graduation portraits should be taken in cap, gown and tassel. These pictures can be taken at the private studios of freelance photographers or commercial photography companies, especially those that cater to public schools.

    Class Rings

    • Class rings can be custom-made or purchased based on displays of certain years that represent the graduating class. Numerous companies offer this service. You can call a local high school to find out which company makes its class rings each year.

    Party Hearty

    • Have party supplies on hand for the celebration afterward.

Following graduation ceremonies, even for home schools, a graduation party is often held. Basic party supplies including snacks, drinks, plastic cups and utensils, plates, balloons and other standard party amenities, in addition to hiring a DJ, should make for a lively graduation party.
