Use a black, typed, professional, size 12 and double-spaced font printed on only one side of white computer paper. Courier or Times New Roman are excellent examples of professional fonts that should be used.
Create at least one inch margins around all of your pages.
Provide your name, address, telephone number and email address in the upper left hand corner of the first page of your manuscript.
Place the total word count of your entire manuscript on the upper right hand corner of the first page. If you use a program like Microsoft Word to compose your document, there will be a word count in the bottom left corner of the program.
Write the title of your piece halfway down the first page of your document so that the editor has room to take notes on the first page.
Decide on your byline, which is the name that the work will be credited to and include that name on the next double space underneath your title.
Begin the text of your manuscript two double spaces underneath the byline. Each paragraph should be indented one half inch from the margin.
Develop a header that consists of your real surname, one or two keywords from the title of your manuscript and the current page number and place the header in the upper right corner of every page except the first page.
Include the word "end" in all capital letters at the end of your manuscript so that the editor knows that your piece is over.
