How to Write a Summer Internship Report

When you complete a summer internship, you might then be required to write a report documenting your experience. This might be something that the internship program would like you to do, or you could be required to write a summer internship report for school if you completed the internship as a requirement for a course. Either way, there are some general guidelines that you can follow when writing the internship report.

Instructions

    • 1

Add a title page. The title page should include your name and the class or school you completed the internship for, if relevant, as well as where you completed the summer internship and the date you plan to submit the report.

    • 2

Provide details about the summer internship in the first section. Include the company name and location, the industry and your position as an intern.

    • 3

Give additional details about the work you did at the company during your internship in the next section. Include as many details as possible about tasks and projects your completed, responsibilities you had and what type of information you were entrusted with.

    • 4

Talk about how the internship related to the class you're taking, your degree or your career choice. Include any information that's relevant. Add additional details about how the tasks you completed and responsibilities you had related, as well.

    • 5

Reflect on the internship in the last section. You spent the whole summer working with a company, so you should have a lot to say about what you learned, what you would do differently and whether you would recommend the internship to someone else in your position.
