How to Start an Essay With Multiple Subjects

An essay is a document that is written from an author's personal point of view. In order to create the document, which utilizes multiple subjects, authors must consider the correlation of subjects, conduct research, formulate a thesis, create an outline and write the paper.

Instructions

    • 1

Consider how the multiple subjects might be related in order to formulate a thesis and write a coherent essay.

    • 2

Conduct research of the multiple subjects online or offline at a public or school library.

    • 3

Formulate a thesis statement after researching and apply this statement to the opening paragraph. Create a two-part title for the essay. The first part is literary or poetic, and the second part states the topic of the paper. Example: A Man and His Music: The Biography of Frank Sinatra.

    • 4

Write the opening paragraph to introduce the subjects and explain how they tie together. Include the thesis statement in the last sentence of this paragraph.

    • 5

Write an outline for the essay, introducing an individual subject in each section or chapter, and then write the essay.

    • 6

Create a bibliography at the end of the essay to cite sources.
