Proper Way to Use C/O

When you mail a letter that needs to get to a certain person, but delivered to a third party, the the designation "c/o" is used. This abbreviation means "in care of". By using it you are requesting that the letter be delivered to one person via someone else. For example, if you have Paul's address, but you need to get a letter to Paul's brother, John, you would send the letter to John, "in care of" Paul.
