How to Write Lambda

Lambda represents the 11th letter of the Greek alphabet, with the Roman letter "L" representing a variant of this letter. The lambda symbol is used for a number of different purposes, including mathematical equations and graphic artwork. Creating this letter by hand is not difficult, and with enough practice, doing so will become second nature. Begin practicing writing the lambda character on lined notebook paper to make the process easier.

Instructions

  1. Creating an Uppercase Lambda

    • 1

Start at the bottom line on the paper. Draw a diagonal line towards the upper right of the paper until you reach the top line on the paper.

    • 2

From the top line of the paper, draw another diagonal line towards the lower right of the paper until you reach the bottom line on the paper.

    • 3

Create two "feet" at the bottom of the lines. The end result will appear like the letter "A," with the horizontal middle line removed.

    Creating a Lowercase Lambda

    • 4

Start at the bottom line on the paper. Draw a diagonal line toward the upper left of the paper. Initially, it will appear as though you are drawing a diagonal line backwards.

    • 5

Complete the line by adding a small curve at the top of the line once you reach the top line on the paper.

    • 6

Start at the midpoint of the line you just created. Create another diagonal line towards the bottom left of the paper. End the line when you reach the bottom line on the paper. The end result should look like "λ."
