How do you create a memorandum?

Step 1: Write the Header

- Begin with "MEMORANDUM"

- Include "TO", "FROM," and "DATE".

Step 2: Write the Subject Line

- Be concise in 3-4 words.

Step 3: Include Background Information

- Start the body of the memo clearly outlining its purpose. It must provide context & a reason for being written. Use a brief sentence or two.

Step 4: Write the Reason in Detail

- If the background section needs clarification of additional support, this section explains it in more detail to support the memo's primary objectives.

Step 5: Create Clear and Distinctive Actions, Questions, Concerns or Proposals: These sections vary on memo, but this section is the body for your message. Address concerns clearly to avoid confusing anyone reading it. Write out any actions in a bulleted fashion and proposals for solutions to any concerns and or problems.

Step 6: Use a Formal Closing Salutation and Your Typed Name.
