Begin with an evaluation for all students to see what type of English they already have. Use both a written test to evaluate how well they can write English, and a spoken test to see how much English they can speak. If you can, group the students into similar ability levels to make planning lessons easier.
Create lessons that begin at the current level for students, move them up to another level. For Filipino students, focus on speaking so they can speak unaccented English. Create both written lessons and spoken lessons to help your students understand what English looks like and what it sounds like.
Continue your English instruction in both written fashion and spoken fashion until you are certain that the students understand it and have moved to the next level.
