How to Learn Primary Spanish for Free

Learning primary Spanish will provide you the ability to speak to native speakers among your family and friends and will also give you confidence in understanding what is being spoken. Or you may be preparing for a trip to a Spanish-speaking country and want to be able to communicate basic Spanish. Whatever the case may be, the Internet provides various free resources to improve your reading, writing, speaking and comprehension skills.

      Go to BBC.co.uk, Languages Spanish (see Resources). Click on "A Guide to Spanish," then click "Spanish Words and Phrases." Select various words and phrases to hear the pronunciation; repeat back the words that are spoken and look at their English translation on the right side. Return to the main page and click on other beginning Spanish links such as "Spanish Quick Fix."

      Go to StudySpanish.com (see Resources), and click the "Pronunciation" link. Select "Topic #1 Vowel: a." Listen to the pronunciation of the words and vowels and repeat back. Click on "Repeat" to listen again and "Continue" to hear more words. When finished, continue to Topic #2 and so forth, practicing comprehension, reading and pronunciation.

      Visit Spanicity.com: Learn Spanish Online (see Resources). Under "Spanish Audio Lessons," click "Alphabet." Click the letter "A" to listen to the pronunciation, and click the word "Amor" to listen to an example of the the letter "A." Continue down the column, listening to every additional letter. Return to the homepage and select various links, such as "Numbers" and "Spanish Verbs."
