The New School of Cooking, located in Culver City, offers both professional and recreational culinary classes for groups of up to six people. The recreational cooking and baking classes teach techniques such as knife skills, ethnic cooking, making sauces and vegetarian cooking. The professional classes are part-time to accommodate students who can't attend a full-time culinary school due to work or other commitments.
Chef Eric's Culinary Classroom is a cooking school in Los Angeles run by chef Eric Jacques Crowley. The school offers about a dozen different types of courses, with the shortest being the basic culinary classes for beginners and the series of classes in advanced baking, healthy cooking and international cuisine, all of which last four weeks. The school also has a 10-week baking/pastry certification program and a 20-week culinary chef certification program.
Cook L.A., located in Studio City, is a school that specializes in hands-on cooking classes for both basic and advanced students. Chefs teach, among other things, the skills and tools needed to prepare a three-course meal for four people. Classes in Cuban food, knife skills, gourmet pizza, vegetarian cooking and healthy meals, ranging from two to four hours, are also available.
Le Cordon Bleu is a nationwide culinary arts college with a Los Angeles campus that prepares students for culinary careers. The college's training programs include associate degrees and diplomas in culinary arts and patisserie and baking. Both English and Spanish-language classes are offered. The school also offers career services for current and graduated students to help them find jobs in the restaurant, hospitality and culinary industries.
