Find a school in your area that offers Callan classes. The method originated in the United Kingdom and the original schools specializing in the Callan Method are in the U.K. The Callan School of London operates two other official Callan schools, one in Krakow, Poland, another in Sao Paolo, Brazil. There are schools that offer Callan classes but are not affiliated with the Callan School of London in several countries around the world, including the United States, Australia, Japan, Russia, Spain and many other European and South American countries. If there is not a school that offers Callan classes in your area, you will need to travel to a country where classes are offered.
Attend your first Callan class. The classes involve near-constant interaction between students and the teacher. The teacher will ask the students a series of questions that the students are compelled to answer. The teacher will repeat the questions until the students are able to answer them. Expect the classroom environment to be intense and lively. The system is highly structured, so students are not given much room to improvise. The teacher will continue to ask questions to help you build base of practical English skills.
Continue going to classes until you have mastered the first stage of the program. There are 12 stages of the Callan Method and your teacher will advance you to each stage once you have completed the previous stage. When all 12 stages are complete, you should have enough English basics to do business with English-speaking companies or to get by in an English-speaking country.
Practice speaking English and using your skills with native English speakers. The Callan Method teaches new English speakers the basics of practical English speaking, but the best way to learn the nuances of any language is to practice with native speakers and to read English language books.
