Glue together old wooden rulers to form the top of a creative vintage table. You can also use fallen branches of trees to make rustic drink coasters. First, cut the branch into slices of 1 inch or less, and sand the pieces. You can draw leaf motifs on the center of coaster or leave it plain, and give it a coat of varnish.
Make a shopping bag using a variety of recycled materials. Use parts of your old jeans, or pieces of old truck canvas. With the hard cover of an old book you can also create a stylish bag or purse. You only need some fabric to close the sides of the book, and a button. For the handles, you can use fabric or an old belt.
Transform old tea tins into original candles. You need some candle wicks, a wick holder, a tin, 2.5 ounces of stearin and 1.5 pounds of paraffin wax. First, insert the wick into the wick holder and put it in the center of the tin. Melt stearin, add the wax and mix well. Pour it into the tin, until a half inch of the wick is covered, leaving it to cool. Reheat the wax, and fill the tin up to half inch from the top. Leave it to cool overnight.
Transform a clean plastic bottle into a piggy bank with some cardboard, paint and buttons. First, cut the ears from a cardboard box and paint them. Don't forget to leave tabs to attach them to the bottle. Place the bottle in a horizontal position. Draw the pig's nostrils on the bottle lid, with a permanent marker. Then, attach the ears on the top with double-sided tape. Hot-glue other plastic bottle lids for legs and use buttons for the eyes. Make a cut on the top for inserting the coins. Use a piece of an old notebook spiral of wire for the tail.
