How to Obtain a Nutritionist Degree

Nutritionists and dietitians design, plan and supervise the preparation of healthy, nutritious food. Universities offer associate's, bachelor's, master's and doctoral level programs in nutrition science and dietetics. Candidates with an associate's degree work as assistants to dietitians who possess a bachelor's or higher degree. Those with a master's degree work in supervisory positions as dietary managers in major hospitals and large organizations, whereas a doctoral degree holders work in nutrition research, education and nutritional policy development programs.

Take courses in health, chemistry, biology, math and communication during high school and obtain a high school diploma.

Choose between a bachelor's degree in nutrition science or dietetics, depending on your career goal. The course in nutrition science provides a thorough knowledge of chemistry and biology, and is helpful to students planning to proceed to a master's or doctoral program in nutrition, or graduate study in medical or dental school.
