How to Find Physical Descriptions of Native American Women in the Early Colonial Area

Native American women seen by early colonists were described in detail because they were something the settlers had never seen before. While books of Native American history give physical descriptions of the women, source materials are best for accurate descriptions. The people who wrote source descriptions described exactly what they saw when they looked at the women. Remember, though, that source descriptions are shaped by the politics, culture and beliefs of the time.
