How to Find the Area of a Circle Using Radius

The area of a circle is the number of square units inside of the circle. To find the area of a circle you must find radius (the distance from the center of the circle to the exterior). The area is found by the formula: A = 3.14 x r x r

Instructions

    • 1

Determine the radius, r, of the circle. (Example: r = 3 ft).

    • 2

      Square the radius. (Example: r x r = 3 ft x 3 ft = 9 square ft).

    • 3

Multiply the result of Step 2 times pi, or 3.14. (Example: 9 x 3.14 = 28.26 square ft).
