How to Freeze Distilled Water

If you drink distilled water, it makes sense to use ice made from distilled water. Because distilled water is just water without sediment, it freezes at the same temperature: 32 degrees F or 0 degrees C. The amount of time it takes for the water to freeze depends on the temperature of the freezer, temperature of the water and amount of water in the container. For example, warmer water takes longer to reach the proper temperature than cooled water.

Instructions

    • 1

Pour the distilled water into the plastic container, but do not fill it up all the way. Leave a 3-inch gap at the top of the container to allow room for the water to expand when it freezes. Pour the water into the ice cube trays to make ice. Do not overfill the trays.

    • 2

Put the lid on the container.

    • 3

Place the container or trays in the freezer. Set it in a place where it won't tip or fall.

    • 4

Leave the container or trays of distilled water in the freezer for eight to 12 hours to freeze. Leave it in the freezer until you want to use it.
