Place a large calendar on your desk. Write the dates of any research projects, tests or other assignments as you receive them. As soon as you sit at your desk, you will see these upcoming assignments and know what projects you need to complete.
Place essential items in your middle desk drawer for easy access. This items should include pens and pencils, a calculator, ruler, tape, paper clips and a hand-held hole punch.
Place often-used books -- such as a dictionary, thesaurus and atlas -- in the side drawers of your desk. This will make them easy to find and use as you need them.
Keep your textbooks nearby for easy access. Once you stop working to hunt for something on the other side of the room, it becomes very difficult to regain your concentration.
Keep a good lamp on your desk so you have adequate light as you study. This will prevent eyestrain and allow you to work longer.
