Take a shower and grab yourself some coffee. First and foremost, you must be alert on the road. If you are too tired to drive, simply don't drive. If you need a little pick-me-up like pop or coffee, grab some before you hit the road.
Put on your make up and comb your hair. You should never attempt to do other tasks while you drive. Put on your make up and comb your hair at home, not on the road. In fact, you shouldn't even fix your make up when you are at a red light. Place all of your attention on your driving.
Make sure you have all of your essentials: purse, keys, wallet, and briefcase. A quick check before you leave could save you a hurried trip back home. The words "Hurry" and safe driving do not mix well.
Turn off your cell phone. That's right, do not talk on your phone or accept calls. Not only does talking on the phone negatively affect your driving, the rings and vibrations do as well. Do every driver a favor and leave your phone calls for your walk.
Take several deep breaths. If you are angry, you should calm yourself down before driving. Arguments and stressful situations can make people drive erratically. Settle down your nerves before you set your foot on the gas pedal.
