Instructions

    • 1

Go to a bookstore and find a Spanish learning program on CD or cassette. Choose a learning program that is audio-only, meaning that no textbook or worksheets are required. If you don't want to pay for a program, find an audio program at the library. You can try the program at home for free and decide to buy it later.

    • 2

Listen to the audio program every day on your way to work. Repeat the phrases and vocabulary words that are spoken in the program. Make sure you speak the words aloud. This helps you remember key phrases and vocabulary. When you drive home, pop the CD or cassette in the player and continue practicing the language.

Buy some Spanish music CDs. Listening to Spanish music on a regular basis can help you grow accustomed to hearing the language when it is spoken quickly.

    • 4

Make Spanish vocabulary flash cards from index cards. Put the Spanish word on one side of the card and its English meaning on the other side. Review the flash cards when you are waiting in the car to pick up kids from school, dance class, sports practice or other after-school activities. Go over the cards any time you are in the car sitting in the parking lot.

Learn Spanish with a friend or family member. Practice speaking to one another in Spanish as you travel together by car. You and your Spanish language learning buddy can agree to only speak Spanish whenever you are driving around town together.
