What Is Solar Power Electricity?

Solar electricity is simply energy (power) supplied by the sun. This solar power is harnessed to generate electricity to power our homes and buildings.
  1. The Sun's Energy

    • The sun's power can be stored. Many solar alternatives exist to help reduce our carbon footprint and the stress being caused in our environment. Harnessing the sun's energy through the use of solar panels is one option. Solar panels convert the sun's light into particles of energy called "photons" and then use these photons to create electricity that can be utilized for energy. Solar panels are primarily used for the production of electricity in residential and commercials facilities.

    Solar Thermal Concentrators

    • Solar thermal concentrators are another form of sustainable energy storage. They can store energy in the form of heat that can be utilized overnight or during times when the sun's rays are not available to produce electricity.

    Solar Tax Credit

    • Solar tax credits are available for energy-efficient products and renewable energy systems.

The U.S. Congress currently provides a 30% tax credit toward the use of solar electricity (power) to encourage the use of sustainable technologies. Technologies that qualify for the tax credit include biomass stoves, energy-efficient windows and doors, geothermal heating pumps, residential fuel cell and microturbine systems, and solar water heaters.

    Energy Savers

    • Solar power produces no fuel costs and is a clean way to generate electricity.

    Go Green with Solar Electricity

    • Using the sun as our main source of electrical energy can help to eliminate the need to purchase electricity that is usually acquired by burning fossil fuels.
